SWEEP Workshops

Resource Conservation Districts have just been informed of another opportunity for growers to apply for SWEEP (State Water Efficiency and Enhancement Program) Funding from the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA).

SWEEP is an opportunity for commercial agricultural water users to receive up to $100,000 to improve on-farm water and energy efficiency.
SWEEP application period opened on October 21 and will close on December 16, 2019.

SWEEP Workshops Announced – Come learn more from the RCDs! 

*Both meetings will have Spanish speaking staff on hand for any questions or additional assistance.

The Resource Conservation District’s of Tehama County and Glenn County will be holding workshops with all of the necessary details required to apply that include:

  • Overview of the SWEEP grant process
  • Instructions on how to apply
  • Guidance on how to use the spreadsheets and calculators
  • Tips on how to assemble a strong grant proposal
  • Opportunities for one-on-one support

Two workshops are available to any grower in the Northern Sacramento Valley:

These workshops are also recommended for prior applicants who did not receive funding, as technicians can help with modifications for a second chance at receiving the funding opportunity.

“The State Water Efficiency and Enhancement Program (SWEEP) provides financial assistance in the form of grants to implement irrigation systems that reduce greenhouse gases and save water on California agricultural operations. Eligible system components include (among others) soil moisture monitoring, drip systems, switching to low pressure irrigation systems, pump retrofits, variable frequency drives and installation of renewable energy to reduce on-farm water use and energy.”
